Hwil he was litel, he yede ful naked.
Hauelok was a ful god gome,
He was ful god in eueri trome,
He was ŝe wichteste man at nede,
ŝat ŝurte riden on ani stede.
ŝat ye mowen nou yhere,
And ŝe tale ye mowen ylere.
At the biginning of ure tale
Fil me a cuppe of ful god ale,
And wile drinken, her y spelle,
ŝat Crist us shilde alle fro helle.

In Humber Grim began to lende,
In Lindeseye, rith at ŝe north ende.
ŝer sat a ship upon the sond;
But Grim it drou up to ŝe lond,
And ŝere he made a litel cote
To him and to hise flote.
Bigan he, there forto erŝe,
A litel hus to maken of erŝe,
So ŝat he wel ŝore were
Of here herboru herborwed ŝere;
And for ŝat Grim ŝat place aute
ŝe stede of Grim ŝe name laute,
So ŝat Grimesbi it calle
ŝat ŝeroffe speken alle.
And so shulen men callen it ay
Bituene ŝis and Domesday.
