The Power of Love
(14th century)
Alas, howe schale my hert ne lyght,
Wyth dart of loue when hyt ys slayn;
The stroke hyt deris me day and nyght,
Wyth carfulle hert y me complayn.
for on has made me vnfayn,
for home y lye yn heuynes -
sche may redres my hert agayn,
When y thyng on hure gentylnes.
