After having studied this module you will be able to
Part a): Theoretical
In this course we will try to find answers to the question “What is literature?” and discuss the theoretical implications of the understanding of literary texts. We will compare medieval modes of literary production
and perception in contrast to the modern relationships between authors, texts and audiences. We will learn how to distinguish between so-called pre-modern, modern, and post-modern approaches and critically assess their validity for a
virtual and/or authentical understanding of mediaeval literary texts
All texts and additional materials will be available on the university's BSCW-Server (bscw.uni-duesseldorf.de) to which
you will be invited after your admission on the HISLSF-Server.
